TOP GAMES THIS WEEK

#2 Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0) at #16 Northwestern Wildcats (4-0) = This is Ohio State’s toughest challenge yet. Northwestern has a quick strike offense, but has struggled on defense with missed tackles. The thing they have going for them is its at home. MY PREDICTION = Ohio State 41 Northwestern 34

#23 Washington Huskies (4-0) at #5 Stanford Cardinals (4-0) = Expect one of those old school smash mouth defensive struggles that your grandfathers used to love. The winner of this one will be the team that can control the ball and win the turnover battle. MY PREDICTION = Stanford 20 Washington 10

#24 Maryland Terrapins (4-0) at #8 Florida State Seminoles (4-0) = Maryland is just starting to come around to what their coach has been building to since he left UConn. But this will be a tough one to take for them. FSU has one of the best quarterbacks in the land, and is hitting on all cylinders right now, at home. MY PREDICTION = FSU 64 Maryland 14

Arkansas Razorbacks (3-2) at #15 Florida Gators (3-1) = Arkansas is still a year or two away from being the team their coach wants. Florida is stuck in offensive suffering even if Driskell wasn’t out for the year. MY PREDICTION = Florida 20 Arkansas 18

Michigan State Spartans (3-1) at #29 Iowa Hawkeyes (4-0) = This is the first time Iowa has shown signs of life in a long time. The Spartans are just totally awful on offense, which is too bad with such a great defense. This will be the game which will decide if Iowa is for real. MY PREDICTION = Iowa 19 MSU 9

TOP MATCHUPS THIS WEEK

#17 Ole Miss Rebels (3-0) at #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (3-0) = Alabama is coming off struggling on offense against Colorado State, and this is just the perfect opportunity for a possible upset. Ole Miss is probably a year away from being for real, but this is a big opportunity. So expect this to be a lot closer than most people expect. MY PREDICTION: Alabama 38 Ole Miss 34

#29 Wisconsin Badgers (3-1) at #2 Ohio State Buckeyes (4-0) = This is Ohio State’s first real test of the season. The big question is who will play quarterback for State. Wisconsin is starting to jell as a team, and might be still undefeated if not for a bizarre ending against Arizona State. This should be a heck of a game. MY PREDICTION: Ohio State 34 Wisconsin 33

#5 LSU Tigers (3-0) at #11 Georgia Bulldogs (2-1) = LSU is much tougher at home than they will be in the Hedges. Georgia had to be looking ahead to this game last week, as they came very close to being upset by North Texas who led some of the game. This could be the QB duel the Tigers have been looking for a long time. MY PREDICTION: LSU 26 Georgia 24

#13 South Carolina Gamecocks (2-1) at #22 UCF Golden Knights (3-0) = This is a tough one to call. The Golden Knights as a program have been getting better every year, and South Carolina though overly talented has struggled at times. Expect a defensive battle, with the win coming down to turnovers. MY PREDICTION: UCF 19 S.C. 17 *Upset Special*

#14 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) at #30 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-1) = This was the game last season that announced that the Irish had arrived. Well this season the defense isn’t as opportunistic, and the offense lacks leadership. OU has a QB controversy. MY PREDICTION: OU 34 ND 17

TOP MATCHUPS THIS WEEK

* I know what your thinking. #1Bama is playing ColoState, #2OhioState is playing Florida A&M, #7 Georgia is playing NorthTexas, #9 Louisville has FIU, #19 Michigan is playing UConn, or Miami is playing Savannah State, and Oregon,Oklahoma State, South Carolina, and Ole Miss are off. So there must be no good games this week. Here's where you would be wrong.

#3 Clemson Tigers (2-0) at NC State Wolfpack (2-0) = This is an upset alert. I am not saying State will win, but this is a major trap game. Just ask FSU last year in this very spot. This is also a Thursday night game, so take the time to get to know the Tigers, they could very well be playing for it all by the end of the season. MY PREDICTION: Clemson 38 NCState 21

#16 Arizona State Sun Devils (2-0 at #6 Stanford Cardinals (2-0) = ASU is coming off one of the craziest endings i've ever seen as the refs refused to allow Wisconsin to spike the ball to set up a game winning field goal against them. Stanford is coming off getting more than they expected by a pesky Army team. ASU has a lot of talent, and the kind've offense that can make things interesting. But Stanford knows how to play solid old school football. MY PREDICTION: Stanford 29 ASU 25

Tennessee Volunteers(2-1) at #17 Florida Gators(1-1) = This is still a major rivalry, and my heat up as soon as Butch starts working his magic, even if that may take some time. But expect Tennessee to show up for this game. The Gators are no Oregon. MY PREDICTON: Florida 27 Tenn 24

Boise State Broncos (2-1) at #21 Fresno State Bulldogs(2-0) = Fresno is fresh off a postponed game at Colorado after all that horrific flooding. Boise is fresh off giving a smack down on AF, in an effort to prove they are still worthy. But i'm gonna have to side with my guy Carr. MY PREDICTION: Fresno State 45 Boise St 41

West Virginia Mountaineers (2-1) at #27 Maryland Terapins (3-0) = This is shaping up to be a decent matchup for once. With WVir working on building momentum under new QB heading into Big 12 play, and Maryland trying to stay undefeated this could actually be a good one. With both teams doing the No Huddle well i wonder how many plays could happen in this game. MY PREDICTION: Maryland 59 WVir 56

Kansas State Wildcats(2-1) at Texas Longhorns (1-2) = No, nope this is not a top matchup. How bad do you have to feel if your ABC having this stinker follow that match up from the week before with the stinker of Purdue/ND. I'm curious about this game, because who knows who could be fired this week in Austin. Major or as some fans are calling him Private Applewhite is now under fire for his poor playcalling. I don't expect the Longhorns to make a move, but this should force him to open up the offense more. State is still realing from the upset by North Dakota St. In the end no matter the records, the Wildcats under Synder have owned Texas. So this should be now different. MY PREDICTION: KSU 44 Texas 27

TOP MATCHUPS THIS WEEK

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0) at #17 Texas A&M Aggies (2-0) = This is the game of the year so far at least in the build up this game will have. The Aggies are coming off a year in which they won the Heisman, and game the eventual National Champs their only blemish. Winning a National Title does a lot to make one feel better about a season, but Alabama is the type of team to hold a grudge. So this should be an ugly game with a lot of hitting that will be on the verge of getting that new ejection penalty. MY PREDICTION- Alabama 34 Texas A&M 31

#26 Tennessee Vols(2-0) at #4 Oregon Ducks (2-0) = Time to find out if the Vols are back, or will this be a 3 year remodel. This is a tough game to get when your a new coach. Oregon's offense is outstanding and their QB looks like he was born just to control this offense. If the Vols can get a few bounces to go their way like they did against WKy(5 turnovers in 6 plays) this could stay close.
MY PREDICTION- Oregon 55 Tennessee 27

#10 UCLA Bruins (1-0) at #15 Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-0) = If this game is anything like the one last year (36-30UCLA) then this should be a great game. UCLA remains a darkhorse for the Pac title, and Nebraska is trying to become a power in the Big 10. Both remember the hard fought game from last year, so this should be a good one. MY PREDICTION- UCLA 38 Neb 35

#20 Ole Miss Rebels (2-0) at Texas Longhorns(1-1) = A week ago this had the makings of a big game. Now after Texas had their chest ripped opened to reveal they have no heart, nor toughness, this should be a laugher. Keep in mind that a loss like this had in the past caused the Longhorns to step up their game so look for the possible upset here especially at home. With Texas probably winning this game and patting themselves on the back for how great they are again only to get smoked by KSU and OU later. Fans are no longer amused, so watch for any bad plays by the Horns to start another game of quicksand. MY PREDICTION- Ole Miss 65 Texas 39

#29 Wisconsin Badgers (2-0) at #16 Arizona State Sun Devils (1-0) = Is Wisconsin back, can they just put in another coach and move on the way some teams do with depth on the field. This week will show, as ASU is becoming a tough place to play. This will be the first real test for both teams. MY PREDICTION- ASU 34 Wis 28
