BIG GAMES THIS WEEK
PAC 12 CHAMPIONSHIP- Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA
#16 Stanford
Cardinals (9-3) vs. #8 USC Trojans (10-2) - This is a rematch of a game
which USC ran all over Stanford for a 42-24 win. But things seem like they are
different. USC has come down to earth, and Stanford has a healthy Love running
all over people. But to me it seems like things might be the same. But nothing
is harder than defeating a team twice in the NCAA- USC 34 Stanford 31
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME- Spectrum Stadium, Orlando, FL
#17 Memphis
Tigers (10-1) vs. #12 UCF Golden Knights (11-0) – Another rematch game. UCF
gave Memphis there only loss of the season at UCF in their first game back from
a Hurricane cancelled game. UCF won 40-13. Things where a lot different back
then. I wonder if UCF will have in their mind that their Coach Scott Frost is
probably moving on to Nebraska after the season is over. Some really strong
teams have fallen apart with such new. But they did just beat then #23 South
Florida and Charlie Strong 49-42 (But it was a lot closer than expected). UCF
45 Memphis 35
BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas
#11 TCU Horned
Frogs (10-2) at #4 Oklahoma Sooners (11-1) – Another rematch game. OU took
TCU to the woodshed if you will in a 38-20 blowout by TCU standards. I expect
TCU to play better in this game, but I also expect my Heisman front runner
Baker Mayfield should find a way to win in what should be a home game for TCU.
OU 45 TCU 41
SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Mercedes Benz Stadium, Atlanta Georgia
#7 Georgia
Bulldogs (11-1) vs. #4 Auburn Tigers (10-2) – Another rematch game. Auburn
absolutely took Georgia to the woodshed. It was shocking how badly Auburn
outplayed Georgia in all aspects of the game. It was a brutal beating at 40-17.
Which should mean that Auburn win again right? Well it’s tough beating a team
twice. Especially when that team has National Title aspirations and will come
in angry. But then again if Auburn can jump on them early then they may give up
expecting the same thing to happen again. The thing going for Auburn this year
is they finally found a QB in Baylor transfer Stidman. Auburn 31 Georgia 24
HAMPTON BY HILTON MOUTAIN WEST CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Albertson’s Stadium, Boise, ID
Boise State
Broncos (9-3) vs. #25 Fresno State Bulldogs (9-3) – Another rematch game.
In fact it was last week that Fresno State owned Boise St 28-17, but it was at
Fresno. This game is now at Boise, so I expect the Broncos to respond in kind.
Boise State 38 FSU 35
DR PEPPER ACC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
#6 Miami
Hurricanes (10-1) vs. #1 Clemson Tigers (11-1) – This is the first
Championship game that isn’t a rematch of a regular season game. Clemson has
played one of the toughest schedules of anyone all season which is why even
with one loss I have them at #1. Miami has been all about Manny Diaz’s defense
and the ‘Turn over chain’ which has propelled them up the charts till last week’s
totally out of nowhere upset loss to Pitt. The offense just couldn’t get
anything right. This actually boad’s well for the Hurricanes in that a team
like them after a loss can really get ship shape, or they could actually fall
apart and sink all together. I would like to pencil in the Hurricane’s to win
here, because everything is telling me they should be up to the task. But in a
battle where both teams’ defenses are full of NFL players, Clemson just has the
slightly better offense. Clemson 19 Miami 15
BIG 10 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
#9 Ohio State
Buckeyes (10-2) vs. #2 Wisconsin Badgers (12-0) – This game is very hard to
call. As of right now little is known if Ohio State’s QB JT Barrett will play
after getting injured on the sideline during the Michigan game. If he was
totally healthy this might be a great game, going back and forth. But if he is
hampered or can’t play then Wisconsin should handle the Buckeyes easily. So I’m
unsure how to go with this one. Wisconsin 31 Ohio State 20
MARATHON MAC FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY VIZIO – Ford Field, Detroit, MI
Akron Zips
(7-5) vs. #29 Toledo Rockets (10-2) – Another Rematch game. Toledo owned
Akron 48-21 earlier in the season. Akron only got into this game by upsetting
Ohio who had already beaten Toledo. Toledo has been strong all season only
losing to #6 Miami and being upset by Ohio in overtime. Nothing should change
in this game. Toledo 45 Akron 24
DYNACRAFT CONFERENCE USA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – FAU Football Stadium, Boca Raton, FL
North Texas
Mean Green (9-3) vs. Florida Atlantic Owls (9-3) – FAU started the season
roughly winning only 1 game in their first four contest. Most teams would have
hung it up at 1-3, but Lane Kiffin rallied his troops into winning 8 straight
including a 69-31 trouncing of North Texas. North Texas should be familiar with
this field as they got abused here. FAU 45 NT 34
