BIG GAME PREDICTIONS

FRIDAY

#2 Clemson Tigers (6-0) at Syracuse Orangemen (3-3) – At first this might look like an easy beating for Clemson. But Syracuse is a crazy team to play offensively. They spread the ball around and pass a lot with a high up tempo pace. On the other side Clemson is in flux with their QB Bryant possibly missing the game, or at least slowed down if he does play by an ankle injury. – Clemson 34 Syr 31

#8 Washington State Cougars (6-0) at California Golden Bears (3-3) – Could be a real high scoring fest with both teams putting up plenty of passing yards. – WSU 45 Cal 34

SATURDAY

#14 Oklahoma Sooners (4-1) vs. #30 Texas Longhorns (3-2) – One of the oldest, and nastiest rivalries renews. This time with both teams having new Coaches. OU is coming off a bitter upset at home against a mediocre Iowa State team. Most feel they were looking ahead to this game and took the Cyclones lightly. Heisman Trophy candidate Baker Mayfield has a chance to put up prime time numbers on a big stage. Texas is still trying to find itself offensively, but showed some progress last week with the True Freshman QB Sam Ehlinger leading the team to a hard fought win. The real question will be if Herman will stay with the freshman, or go back to Soph. Shane Buechele. There is now a QB battle in Austin. OU should have this with the better offensive line. But anything can happen. – OU 45 Texas 40

#24 Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-1) at #29 West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2) – This should be a real good matchup. The Red Raiders have always been offensively minded, but this year they have suddenly found a defense. The Mountaineers almost got the upset of TCU last week. – TT 35 WVir 34

#11 Auburn Tigers (5-1) at #25 LSU Tigers (4-2) – Both teams have struggled passing the ball and have great defense and a strong running game. The real question is has the real LSU team showed up after last week’s upset of Florida in the Swamp. I’m feeling like an upset is very possible here, especially with the game in Baton Rouge – LSU 20 Auburn 18

Georgia Tech Yellow jackets (3-1) at #9 Miami (FL) Hurricanes (4-0) – Miami is high after ending their losing streak against the Seminoles last week. Can they maintain the momentum that they have against an always frisky wishbone team in Georgia Tech? – Miami 29 GT 27

#23 Navy Midshipman (5-0) at Memphis Tigers (4-1) – lately playing at Memphis especially if you’re ranked has been tough on the visitors. Navy is coming off an emotional rivalry win against Air Force, while Memphis is well rested after smacking UConn on a Friday. Both teams can run the ball well, with the edge going to Navy – Navy 40 Memphis 38

#28 Utah Utes (4-1) at #15 USC Trojans (5-1) – With USC struggling a little lately on offense and Utah having a strong defense this could turn out to be a defensive struggle. Something the PAC12 isn’t used to. Expect it to start slow then get higher scoring late. USC 34 Utah 33

Oregon Ducks (4-2) at #26 Stanford Cardinals (4-2) – Oregon is reeling from last week’s beating at home by Washington State, and is looking for a statement win. While Stanford once again has the best all purpose running back in the nation. – Stanford 40 Oregon 30
